This Monday, September 14th we are excited to be joined by Russ Meredith and Tanya Hahn who are both with The Beer Syrup Company. Russ and Tanya are both foodies at heart and entrepreneurs who will talk about their adventure into the world of Beer Syrup. Russ has worked in restaurants from age 15 to present. Currently he is a bar manager at a local restaurant. He got involved with the local food movement back 2008 and became Farm Market Manager of St. Matthews Farm Market, which is the largest farm market in Louisville. Russ went on to complete the Entrepreneurship program at the University of Louisville. While in that program he decided he wanted to work for himself and produce a food product. Tanya has owned a small marketing and design company (Hahn & Associates, LLC) since 1992 and was co-founder of Kilimanjaro Foods, Inc., in 2007. As one of the partners she was in charge of branding, packaging, marketing and sales. She was able to get their sauces into 28 local stores along with Whole Foods and Kroger, and build an Amazon store for the company as well.
Russ and Tanya met at the St. Matthews Farm Market and hit it off. They had often talked about different business ventures over the years and Beer Syrup became a reality. Both are very interested in Start-ups, both have other ventures and often help others as they start their business.
The Beer Syrup Company is the first ever commercial producer of non-alcoholic beer syrups, which are simple syrups that use craft beer as the base ingredient instead of water. The beer syrups can be used for creating cocktails behind the bar by mixing it with different spirits or even as a ingredient while cooking in the kitchen. They are currently offering three flavors: Mocha Porter, Pecan Nut Brown, and Bourbon Barrel Stout all in 16 oz. bottles.
The Beer Syrup Company was featured this past Wednesday in The Courier-Journal and will be hosting a launch party on September 20th at 6:00pm at Louis’s “The Ton” as part of the finale for the Louisville Craft Beer Week.
