User Experience Hackathon
Louisville's first UX centered Hackathon comes to town this October!
For users with disabilities, many of the most challenging day-to-day routines revolve around using appliances that are not designed with them in mind, so they oftentimes are forced to redesign their entire houses with custom built appliances and kitchens, just so they can live normal lives. FirstBuild has heard the stories of these users, and by working closely with local members of the community, has developed appliances that are designed with ADA users in mind, and plans to develop them to fit in the same footprint as standard appliances.
Teams build and test an idea at FirstBuild's Mega Hackathon last year
This October, FirstBuild will offer these appliance concepts to hack during the first ever Midwest UX / FirstBuild User Experience Hackathon where local designers and participants of the Midwest UX conference will bring their heads together to build, hack and change from the ground up in order to provide a seamless interaction for disabled users, changing their lives for the better.
Hackers use hand sketces to rapidly iterate through ideas during the Hackathon
Winners of the hackathon will be presented with a prizes at the end of the event, as well as the opportunity to bring their concept to the next level and have it integrated into a new and cutting edge product designed specifically for differently-abled users!
Stay tuned for more info as the event gets closer!
