The business model for a Software as a Service (SaaS) company is different from many established ones, with unique performance metrics. This session on SaaS Key Performance Indicators will discuss what makes a SaaS business unique, and some of the important metrics to track and optimize. We’ll look at KPIs at the product or customer level such as Cost of Goods Sold and Gross Margin; Customer Acquisition Cost and Lifetime Value; and Churn or Non-Renewal Rate. We’ll also dig into KPIs at the corporate level, such as recurring revenue versus recognized revenue; cash burn rate; sales efficiency and capital efficiency.
Presenter Greg Langdon
Greg Langdon works with early-stage technology companies and related programs in Louisville, KY. He is a board member, investor or advisor for several Software as a Service (SaaS) startups, and is an investment committee member for two angel funds. As an active mentor with several accelerator programs, Greg has worked closely with over 75 early-stage startups. Mr. Langdon was part of the executive team that led Efficient Networks from a venture-funded startup into a market-leading position in broadband Internet equipment, a successful initial public offering, multiple acquisitions, and subsequent sale to Siemens AG. At Efficient Networks he was responsible for product strategy and marketing. Previously he held product management, product development and system architecture positions in the telecom and computer industries. Mr. Langdon has a degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University.
